Age Verification Policy

Cedarbrae Vapes is committed to preventing youth access to vaping products. In accordance with Canadian federal and provincial laws, all customers must be of legal smoking age in their respective province or territory to purchase from our store.

Depending on your location in Canada, the legal age to purchase vaping products is 18, 19, or 21. Here is the breakdown by province and territory:

  • 18 Years Old: Alberta, Manitoba, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon.
  • 19 Years Old: Ontario, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Nova Scotia.
  • 21 Years Old: Prince Edward Island.

How We Verify Your Age

To ensure we are only selling to adults, we have implemented a strict two-step age verification process:

1. Verification at Checkout
When you create an account or place an order, we may use an industry-standard, secure third-party age verification system. This system checks your details against public records to confirm your age. If the automated system cannot verify your age, you may be asked to upload a secure photo of your government-issued ID.

2. Verification Upon Delivery (Canada Post Proof of Age)
All packages are shipped using Canada Post's Proof of Age and signature service.

  • Upon delivery, the postal carrier will require a signature and a valid, government-issued photo ID to release the package.
  • The name on the ID must perfectly match the name on the shipping address.
  • Packages will not be safe-dropped at your door or left in a mailbox. If you are not home, a notice card will be left, and you must pick up the package at your local post office, where your ID will be checked.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What is the legal age to buy vapes in Canada?
A: The minimum legal age varies depending on the province or territory where you reside. You must be 18+ in AB, MB, QC, SK, NT, NU, and YT; 19+ in ON, BC, NB, NL, and NS; and 21+ in PEI.

Q: What forms of ID are acceptable for delivery?
A: Canada Post accepts any valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID that includes your date of birth and name. Acceptable forms of ID include:

  • Provincial Driver’s License
  • Provincial Photo ID Card
  • Canadian Passport
  • Canadian Citizenship Card
  • Certificate of Indian Status

Q: Can someone else sign for my package?
A: No. By law, the name on the package must match the name on the ID of the person signing for it. Canada Post will not release the package to a spouse, roommate, or family member if their name is not on the shipping label.

Q: What happens if I am underage and place an order anyway?
A: If you fail the age verification at the door, or if the package is returned to us because you could not provide valid ID, your order will be subject to our underage penalty. You will only receive a 75% refund, and all original and return shipping costs will be deducted from your final refund amount. No exceptions will be made.

Q: Will my ID photos be kept on file?
A: If you are required to upload an ID during checkout, it is processed through a secure, encrypted third-party service solely for the purpose of age verification. We do not store or keep copies of your government-issued ID on our servers.

Q: I work during the day and won't be home to sign. What happens?
A: If you are not home during the delivery attempt, Canada Post will leave a Delivery Notice Card. You can then take that card, along with your government-issued photo ID, to your designated local post office to pick up your package at your convenience.
